This collection of poems has been written from when Virginia McKenna acted in Born Free up to the present time. They celebrate her love of wild life, the beauty of nature and the urgent need for conservation. In the last section, Memories and Reflections, the poems take on a more personal note.
All are simply written and go straight to the heart.
Virginia McKenna is probably best remembered for her role as Joy Adamson in the film Born Free in which she acted with her late husband Bill Travers. This experience led, some years later, to the establishment of the charity The Born Free Foundation which they founded together with their eldest son Will and which has focusses very successfully on animal welfare and conservation.
